S/Eagles to stage protests over unpaid bonuses

Super Eagles of Nigeria players will stage a protest of accumulated bonuses owed by the Nigeria Football Federation since 2019, a source from the team’s camp leaked the players plans.

The source claims that over seven players are ready to influence the protest of ‘pay us our bonuses or no AFCONT ticket’ before the team departs to Benin Republic.

Nigeria Football Federation is known for the habit of owing the professional player match bonuses, and any attempt to protest for their monies will result in shutting that particular player out of the national team. It would be recalled that former Super Falcons captain Desire Oparanoze protested against the unpaid bonuses and was later shut out of the Falcons team.

“I don’t want my name to be published, but in honest truth, they have not been fair to us but nobody wants to talk,” said a player from the camp.

“Nobody is talking about the bonuses but most of us here want to play for the country not for the federation because we are never motivated. Instead, they behave like ‘god’, but it seems it’s going to be a different encounter because we are ready to speak and protest for the bonuses either in Nigeria or in Benin Republic.”
