Portland Timbers striker Fanendo Adi has plays down insinuation in the media that he’s ready to give everything for Super Eagles if he’s given the chance.
The MLS based striker has been rumored to have been given a green light by Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh for invitation, but he has revealed that it was his representative that spoke with Oliseh and will not like to disclose further discussion.
Reacting to the report that he’s desperate to prove a lot for Nigeria after a superlative performance that make history for Portland Timbers recently, he said: “It will be wrong for me to say I can end Super Eagles goal scoring problems. And as a matter of fact, I don’t think the team has any problem. Like I always say, I will like to play for Nigeria if I am considered good enough for the invitation but I am not that desperate to come and end any issues.”
“My position still remain that I can help the team to score goals with efforts of my team mates like I always do here. We can only be there to help each other and move the team forward. It’s all about helping ourselves in every department, and by so doing, I believe it’s a formula that can work well. This is a team already with top quality players, so I believe everything we get going of course they are getting results. I believe I can contribute to the success of the team. I have to just keep working hard and good things will happen.
The Benue born light America with 17 league goals and a total of 21 in 51 appearances en route to their historic win for the Portland Timbers in the MLS Cup.
